Genetic Secrets, Pt. 1

Chapter 1
It was summer in Ireland. The year was 2012. My family had just moved from England. It took an entire year for us to choose which house to move into. We finally chose this one. The house with a tree that bears flowers. It beautified the environmentof our house. By the way, I forgot to tell you my name. Bailey. Thomas Bailey. That's me. Anyway, I was seventeen that year. There was a lot of conflict between my family members that year.

Chapter 2
It was ten minutes to midnight. Mother was waiting in the living room for Father. She had a serious look on her face. Father was late again. I was secretly waiting for Father to get back as well. I was worried, unlike mother. Worried that they would have another argument. It always came to this. With Father working as an important CEO of a space and aeronautics company, he comes home late most of the time. Mother always says that Father is too obsessed with work. Father says that it's work that's really important for both our family and other companies, but Mother just scoffs and starts yelling. That's how it usually happens. I'm not really sure about tonight. I waited for at least five minutes then Father comes in. Father started showering Mother with compliments and apologies but Mother remained serious. "Do you have any idea what time it is, Edward?" she asked him in a serious way. "Look, something came up at work. I was busy programming ..." "Programming what?" she asked rhetorically. "You have five minutes to explain yourself." She said in a very strict and serious voice. "I was programming that gripen fighter's new onboard missile system. It's a lot harder than it sounds. " he explained. "It's always the same excuse. Programming this. Programming that. Program, program, program. You're too obsessed with work, Edward. It's time you changed your attitude." she scolded. Father stood silent for he can say no more.

Chapter 3
(6 months later)
Well, looks like my dad's gone to America again. Their arguments have been getting more intense. That's a fact. This happens almost every month now with dad going away to America. I'm not sure whether they've divorced yet. Sometimes I follow my dad, sometimes I follow my mom. It's according to who sounds right at the time. P.S: The year is now 2013. So, now I'm eighteen. I decided to talk to my 25 year old brother, Helios. I know, I know. It's a weird name but my parents named him. Not me. So anyway, he's a librarian in an Irish library. And he's pretty serious when it comes to his job. I visited the library and looked at the counter. I didn't recognize him at first because he wore full rimmed rectangular glasses. He had his hair combed neatly and wore a grey business suit. He looked really different from what I remembered. I went closer to the counter. Suddenly he looked up with an expression of surprise on his face. Then he got up slowly and quietly walked toward me. I did the same. "Tom?" he said as he got closer. I nodded but didn't say anything because we were in a library. When we stopped, I gestured for him to come outside. Then he called out to one of the other workers. "Mark! Watch the library while I'm gone." he said to the worker. Then he followed me outside. "Let's go down to the coffee shop. I need to talk to you." I said.

The Ocean

The ocean how eternal you are,
You carry sea vessels afar,
The ocean you are a wonder,
The questions of you I always ponder,
What secrets you hide beneath your waves,
Why I sail on you for many days,
The waters of the ocean remain a glorious blue,
For all humanity depends on you.
